Island excursion

The thousand-year long tradition, the island excursion is continuing!

So come join us on Sunday 27.7. to enjoy the great scenery from aboard the boat and a relaxing day on an island with other guild members! On the island you’ll get to enjoy the breathtaking views and nature, as well as grilling, swimming, and more! 🌊🥓

There are three possible islands we can go to, and you get to vote on the destination when signing up! About the islands:

• Stora Herrö is over 40 hectares in size and on the island you’ll find rocky and forested terrain, as well as sand beaches fit for swimming and sunbathing! The best views on the island can be seen from the observation tower, from where you can admire both the island itself, as well as the archipelago area! The island also has cooking shelters for grilling, and a wc. More info here: https://uuvi.fi/en/area/stora-herro/

• Rövaren is about 9 hectares in size, and has both rocky and forested terrain. On the island you’ll get to explore giant’s kettles, as well as enjoy the beach! There may also be blueberries and lingonberries to pick more inland! The island also has cooking shelters for grilling, and wc. More info here: https://uuvi.fi/en/area/rovaren/

• Gåsgrund is about 10 hectares in size, and the terrain is even and fluctuates from polished rock to lush meadows and dry coniferous forest. The views on the island are dazzlingly beautiful, and it is often said that Gåsgrund is one of Espoo’s most beautiful islands! The island also has sand beaches, cooking shelters for grilling, and a wc. More info here: https://uuvi.fi/en/area/gasgrund/

The journey to all three islands is by an archipelago boat, which leaves from Otaranta at 13 o’clock, so make sure to be there on time! More information on the boat and the island specific timetable can be found here. We’ll be back at Otaranta at 20 o’clock.

A round-trip ticket costs students only 7€, and the accepted payment methods are cash and card. Do remember to take your own food and drink (especially enough water!), weather appropriate clothes, and other gear you may want, such as swimming gear and binoculars!

The sign up is voluntary, is not binding, and does not guarantee a spot on the boat. The boat will very likely have space for everyone though.
